Punjab Food Authority Toba Tek Singh Conducted Nutrition Screening Camp and awareness seminar on Breastfeeding, Maternal Nutrition, and Infant Health
Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, and Deputy Director Operations, Toba Tek Singh, the Nutrition Section conducted an Awareness Seminar and Nutrition Camp at Social Welfare Institute Sanatzar, Toba Tek Singh, to commemorate Breastfeeding Week and promote, protect, and support breastfeeding for improved maternal and infant health on 06-08-2026. A total of 40 participants attended the activity, while 40 individuals benefited from screening and counseling services. The session introduced participants to the significance of World Breastfeeding Week and emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months, early initiation of breastfeeding within the first hour after birth, and the benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and babies.
The seminar further addressed common breastfeeding challenges and their practical solutions, the importance of adequate nutrition and hydration for breastfeeding mothers, and common myths and facts related to breastfeeding. Participants were educated about continued breastfeeding with appropriate complementary feeding up to two years and beyond and the important role of families and communities in supporting breastfeeding mothers. An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted, followed by the distribution of educational materials and awareness messages. Health promotion activities, including nutrition screening and counseling, a healthy lifestyle booth, and practical guidance on diet and physical activity, were also provided to reinforce healthy maternal and infant nutrition practices.
