Punjab Food Authority Toba Tek Singh Conducted Awareness Seminar and Assessment Camp on Promoting Healthy Dietary Habits, Toba Tek Singh

 

Under the directions of the Director General of the Punjab Food Authority and the Deputy Director Operations TobaTek Singh, Nutrition Section organized an awareness seminar and assessment camp at a girls’ school in Toba Tek Singh, focusing on promoting healthy dietary habits among school-going children and teenage girls on 29-04-2026. The activity engaged approximately 600 participants, with around 200 individuals benefiting from on-site nutritional assessment. The session introduced participants to the role, structure, and working framework of the Punjab Food Authority, while addressing key challenges such as malnutrition, obesity, and undernutrition, highlighting the rising dual burden driven by unhealthy dietary patterns.

The seminar emphasized the importance of balanced diets including whole grains, pulses, milk, eggs, fruits, and vegetables, along with limiting ultra-processed foods, sugary drinks, and fast food. Discussions covered the significance of daily breakfast for improved energy and concentration, regular physical activity, adequate hydration, portion control, and healthy snacking habits. Special focus was given to the strong link between nutrition and mental health, including its impact on mood and academic performance, as well as the importance of food safety and hygiene practices to prevent infections and ensure optimal nutrient intake. The assessment camp further supported participants through basic evaluations and awareness to encourage healthier lifestyle choices.
