Punjab Food Authority DG Khan Conducted Awareness Seminar on Promoting Healthy Dietary Habits Among Adolescents, DG Khan

 

Under the directions of the Director General of the Punjab Food Authority and the Deputy Director Operations DG Khan, Nutrition Section organized an awareness seminar at Rehan Institute of Allied Health Sciences, DG Khan, focusing on promoting healthy dietary habits among adolescents on 23-04-2026. The session engaged approximately 480 participants and aimed to address the growing concerns of malnutrition, obesity, and undernutrition. Participants were introduced to the role, structure, and working framework of the Punjab Food Authority, along with an overview of the rising dual burden of malnutrition driven by unhealthy dietary patterns.

The seminar emphasized the importance of balanced diets comprising whole grains, pulses, milk, eggs, fruits and vegetables, while highlighting the need to limit ultra-processed foods, sugary drinks, and fast food. Key discussions included the role of daily breakfast in improving energy and concentration, the importance of hydration, portion control and healthy snacking habits. Additionally, the session underscored the strong link between nutrition and mental health, including its impact on mood and academic performance, along with the significance of food safety and hygiene practices to prevent infections and ensure optimal nutrient intake. Brochures were also distributed to reinforce awareness and encourage the adoption of healthier lifestyle choices.
