Punjab Food Authority Khanewal Conducted Nutrition Screening Camp and Awareness Seminar on Breastfeeding, Child Health, and Prevention of Nutritional Deficiencies

Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, and Deputy Director Operations, Khanewal, the Nutrition Section conducted an Awareness Seminar and Nutrition Screening Camp in collaboration with Gosia Mehria Madrassa for Women, Kabirwala, to promote the importance of breastfeeding, child health, balanced nutrition, and prevention of nutritional deficiencies on 06-08-2026. A total of 70 participants attended the activity, while approximately 25 individuals benefited from nutrition screening and counseling services. The session highlighted the importance of breastfeeding for optimal child growth and development, the role of balanced nutrition in maintaining overall health, and the link between healthy dietary practices and disease prevention.

The seminar further addressed foodborne illnesses and food poisoning, common nutritional concerns among Pakistani women, including vitamin D deficiency and obesity, and the harmful effects of excessive junk and fast-food consumption. Participants were encouraged to adopt healthy eating habits and rely on evidence-based nutrition information when making dietary decisions. Health promotion activities were also conducted, including free nutrition screening and counseling, distribution of awareness flyers in the local language, and a healthy lifestyle booth providing practical diet tips and physical activity guidance. The activity encouraged participants to adopt healthier dietary and lifestyle practices to promote maternal and child health and long-term well-being.
