Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan Conducted Nutrition Awareness Seminar on Breastfeeding, Infant Nutrition, and the Role of Future Healthcare Professionals

Upon the directions of the Competent Authority, the Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar at Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences to promote the importance of breastfeeding and highlight the role of future healthcare professionals in supporting and counseling mothers on optimal infant feeding practices on 05-08-2026  . Approximately 300 participants attended the seminar. The session emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for infant growth, development, immunity, and overall health, along with the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers.

Participants were educated about the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding up to two years and beyond along with appropriate complementary feeding. The seminar also addressed common myths and misconceptions related to breastfeeding to promote evidence-based infant feeding practices. Special emphasis was placed on the role of LHV and nursing students as future healthcare professionals in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding through effective counseling, maternal guidance, and community awareness.
