Punjab Food Authority Gujranwala Conducted Nutrition Awareness Session and Screening Camp for Hajj Pilgrims, Gujranwala

Nutrition Section of Punjab Food Authority Gujranwala, in collaboration with the Directorate of Hajj Lahore, organized a training session for Hajj pilgrims at Quaid-e-Azam Divisional Public School & College, G.T Road Gujranwala on 08-02-2026. The session aimed to educate intending pilgrims about essential nutrition guidelines, preventive measures and common health issues that may arise during the physically demanding journey of Hajj. Participants were introduced to the role of the Nutrition Section and its nutrition clinic, along with practical guidance on maintaining a sustainable and healthy diet and lifestyle during Hajj.

During the training, special emphasis was placed on preventing dehydration and heat stroke, maintaining personal hygiene and avoiding food and water borne diseases. Participants were advised to consume fiber-rich foods, increase vegetable intake, avoid fried and oily foods, limit carbonated beverages and energy drinks and maintain regular meal patterns without skipping major meals. Disease-specific nutrition guidelines were also discussed for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, and the initiative was attended by 527 participants, who appreciated the efforts made to promote health awareness among Hajj pilgrims.
