Punjab Food Authority DG Khan Conducted Nutrition Awareness Seminar for Role of Nutrition in Prevention and Management of Anemia among Females.
Under the directions of the Director General Punjab Food Authority and Deputy Director Operations, DG Khan, Nutrition Section of Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan organized a Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Assessment Camp at the Government Vocational Training Institute (Female), DG Khan on 20-01-2026. The activity aimed to create awareness among female students and staff about anemia, its causes, signs and symptoms, and the critical role of balanced nutrition in its prevention and management. Approximately 150 participants attended the seminar, while around 60 clients were assessed during the camp, and informational brochures were distributed to reinforce key messages.
During the session, participants were educated about iron deficiency anemia, its impact on women’s health and the importance of essential nutrients such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12. Special emphasis was placed on dietary sources of iron (heme and non-heme), the role of vitamin C in enhancing iron absorption, and foods that inhibit iron absorption. Practical nutrition tips were shared to promote a balanced diet and healthy eating habits among adolescent girls and female students, empowering them to prevent anemia and improve overall health through informed dietary choices
