Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan Conducted Nutrition Screening Camp and Awareness Seminar on Women’s Nutrition and Child Growth

Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Nutrition Screening Camp at a shelter home in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department to promote the importance of women’s nutrition and the role of mothers in supporting children’s healthy growth and development. Around 50 participants attended the activity, while approximately 55 individuals benefited from nutrition screening and counseling services on 23-07-2026. The seminar highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, iron deficiency anemia, folate, calcium, and vitamin D deficiencies, overnutrition and obesity, and the essential nutrients required for children’s healthy growth. Participants were also educated about the vital role of mothers in promoting healthy dietary practices within their families and communities.

The activity further emphasized the importance of breastfeeding, healthy eating habits, the value of breakfast, and the harmful effects of junk food on overall health. During the nutrition screening camp, participants received individualized dietary guidance to encourage healthier food choices and lifestyle practices. Nutrition awareness pamphlets were distributed to reinforce key health messages and promote balanced nutrition for women and children, supporting long-term health and well-being.
