Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan Conducted Food Safety Seminar on Women’s Health, Balanced Diet, and Healthy Living, DG Khan

Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Nutrition Section conducted a nutrition awareness seminar at a social welfare institution to promote the importance of women’s nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices on 08-07-2026. Around 65 women participated in the session, while approximately 25 individuals received nutrition counseling and guidance. The seminar highlighted the role and functions of the Punjab Food Authority and focused on common nutritional concerns among women, including iron deficiency anemia, folate, calcium, and vitamin D deficiencies, as well as the growing burden of overnutrition and obesity. Participants were also educated about the components of a balanced diet, the importance of breakfast, healthy meal planning, and preparing affordable and nutritious meals for themselves and their families.

The session further emphasized healthy eating habits, the harmful effects of junk and processed foods, summer dehydration prevention, and the importance of food hygiene and safe food handling practices to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses. Discussions also addressed cultural and social barriers to accessing healthy food and encouraged participants to promote better nutrition within their families and communities. Nutrition awareness pamphlets were distributed to reinforce key messages and support the adoption of healthier dietary and lifestyle practices.
