Upon the directions of the Director General Punjab Food Authority, the Nutrition Section, PFA Gujrat organized a World Food Day Awareness Seminar at Informatics College of Allied Health Sciences, Gujrat under the global theme “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.” The session aimed to raise awareness about food insecurity, malnutrition and the importance of safe and nutritious food for all. Around 60–65 participants, including students and faculty members, attended the seminar. The discussion emphasized the role of the Punjab Food Authority in ensuring food safety, promoting healthy eating habits and supporting national nutrition programs such as the School Nutrition Program.
The seminar covered vital topics including food safety and hygiene, cross-contamination, banned packaging materials, foodborne illnesses, integrated pest management, and types of food hazards. Special focus was given to nutritional deficiencies among youth such as iron, calcium, vitamin D, and folate deficiencies and their prevention through balanced diets. The interactive session concluded with an introduction to the Nutritional Clinic initiative and a Q&A segment. Participants highly appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Food Authority Gujrat for its continuous commitment to promoting food safety, nutrition education, and public health awareness.
