Punjab Food Authority Toba Tek Singh Conducted Healthy Kids Awareness Seminars and Assessment Camps on Healthy Eating Habits
Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, and Deputy Director Operations District Toba Tek Singh, Nutrition Section conducted Awareness Seminars and Assessment Camps at Prime Roots Public School, Boys Section and Girls Section, Toba Tek Singh, under the Healthy Kids Campaign on 24-09-2026. The activities aimed to build healthy eating habits among school children and encourage them to choose nutritious foods, stay active, and adopt healthy lifestyle practices from an early age. A total of 80 participants attended the seminars, while 80 children received nutritional assessment services.
During the activities, participants were sensitized about the introduction and functions of Punjab Food Authority and its wings, the Eat Safe Kids Campaign, food safety, and food categorization under the Punjab Educational Institution Food Regulations. Awareness was also provided regarding the harmful effects of carbonated beverages, differences between butter and margarine, milk and tea whitener, and ice cream and frozen desserts. Children were guided on how to read and understand food labels, follow a sustainable healthy diet, maintain a balanced diet, and understand daily food servings through the food guide pyramid. Healthy eating habits and nutritious lunch-box ideas were also discussed. Interactive Q&A sessions were conducted at the end of both seminars to address participants’ queries and reinforce key nutrition and food safety messages.
