Punjab Food Authority Tightens Noose Around Food Fraud Mafia

Lahore: The Punjab Food Authority has intensified its crackdown against food fraud and the sale of unsafe and substandard food products.

A Food Safety Team, accompanied by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Punjab Salma Butt and Director General Punjab Food Authority Raja Mansoor Ahmed, conducted an operation in Lahore and inspected an ice cream cold store.

During the inspection, approximately 3,000 kg of expired and fungus-contaminated ice cream was recovered and destroyed on the spot.

Due to violations of food safety laws, the distribution of a renowned ice cream brand was suspended, while a fine of Rs. 1 million was imposed on those responsible.

The Punjab Food Authority reaffirmed that strict action will continue against elements involved in supplying expired, adulterated and unsafe food products to protect public health.
