Punjab Food Authority Sahiwal Conducted Nutrition Awareness Seminar on Importance of Breastfeeding and Mother & Child Health
Upon the directions of the Competent Authority, Punjab Food Authority, the Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar in collaboration with Bait-ul-Mal Sanatzar, Sahiwal, to promote the importance of breastfeeding and improve nutrition awareness regarding maternal and child health. Approximately 60 participants attended the activity on 06-08-2026. The session highlighted the importance of breastfeeding for the healthy growth and development of infants, its benefits for both mothers and children, early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding up to two years and beyond along with appropriate complementary feeding. Common myths and misconceptions regarding breastfeeding were also addressed, along with the importance of a balanced diet for breastfeeding mothers and children.
The activity further emphasized the role of Lady Health Visitors and future healthcare professionals in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding through effective counseling and community awareness. Participants were encouraged to adopt healthy dietary practices to support maternal and child health, while meals including chana pulao, fruits, and juices were distributed to promote balanced and nutritious food choices. The Director and Assistant Director of Bait-ul-Mal appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Food Authority in promoting breastfeeding, maternal nutrition, and child health awareness.
