Punjab Food Authority Pakpattan Conducted Nutrition Assessment Camp and awareness seminar on Importance of Breastfeeding and Mother & Child Health

Upon the directions of the Competent Authority, Punjab Food Authority, Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Assessment Camp in collaboration with the Social Welfare Centre at Dar-ul-Aman Shelter Home to promote the importance of breastfeeding and improve nutrition awareness regarding maternal and child health on 07 08-2026. Approximately 20 participants attended the activity, while around 15 individuals received nutrition assessment and counseling services The session highlighted the importance of breastfeeding for the health and development of infants, its benefits for both mother and child, early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding up to two years and beyond along with appropriate complementary feeding. Common myths and misconceptions regarding breastfeeding were also addressed.

The activity further emphasized the role of LHVs and nursing students as future healthcare professionals in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding through effective counseling and community awareness. Participants received nutrition assessment and individualized dietary counseling to encourage healthy eating practices and support maternal and child health. The session promoted evidence-based infant feeding practices and highlighted the importance of proper nutrition for breastfeeding mothers and children.
