Punjab Food Authority Gujranwala Conducted Breast Cancer Awareness and Medical Nutrition Therapy Seminar at Saint Mary’s College of Medical and Advanced Studies
Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, and Additional Director Operations, GRW Division, Nutrition Section conducted a breast cancer awareness seminar at Saint Mary’s College of Medical and Advanced Studies, Gujranwala on 29-10-2026 . The seminar was attended by 120 participants and aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer, its risk factors, early detection, prevention, and the role of medical nutrition therapy in supporting patients. The activity also highlighted the importance of healthy dietary practices and nutrition awareness in promoting overall health and well-being.
Participants were briefed on the importance of macronutrients and micronutrients, the significance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, common warning signs and symptoms, and major causes and risk factors of breast cancer. Guidance was provided on breast self-examination, early detection, the role of nutrition and physical activity in prevention and supportive care, and suitable food choices during treatment. The session also addressed the impact of breast cancer on vital organs, treatment-related side effects, and common myths and facts about the disease. A cake-cutting ceremony was held at the conclusion of the seminar to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
