Punjab Food Authority DG Khan Conducted Nutrition Empowering Teenagers Through Nutrition Education for Healthier Communities
Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority organized an awareness seminar on the importance of teenage girls’ nutrition was conducted at Center of Excellence DG Khan with the participation of approximately 480 attendees on 07-05-2026. The session aimed to educate participants about the vital role of nutrition in promoting healthy growth, disease prevention, and overall well-being among adolescents. Participants were introduced to the role and public health initiatives of Punjab Food Authority, with discussions focusing on the importance of macro and micronutrients, balanced dietary practices, and healthy lifestyle choices for teenage girls.
The seminar highlighted common nutritional concerns including iron-deficiency anemia, deficiencies of folate, calcium, and vitamin D, as well as the growing issue of overnutrition and obesity in urban settings. Discussions also addressed cultural and social barriers to accessing healthy food, practical ways to prepare affordable and nutritious meals, and the importance of promoting healthy eating habits within families and communities. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of breakfast, avoiding junk and processed foods, and understanding the harmful effects of unhealthy dietary patterns. Informative nutrition awareness pamphlets were distributed among participants to reinforce key health and nutrition messages.
