Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan Conducted a Seminar on Role of Nutrition in Prevention and Management of Anemia Among Women

 

Under the directions of the Director General of the Punjab Food Authority and Deputy Director Operations (DG Khan), the Nutrition Section of Punjab Food Authority organized a Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Assessment Camp at Govt Degree College for Women (Model Town), Dera Ghazi Khan. The program aimed to educate female students and staff about anemia, its causes, signs, and symptoms, and the critical role of balanced nutrition in its prevention and management on dated 22-12-2025. The seminar was attended by approximately 380 participants, with around 180 clients receiving individual nutrition assessments and guidance. Additionally, 100 informational brochures were distributed to enhance awareness.

The session highlighted the importance of iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, as well as dietary strategies to prevent anemia, including sources of heme and non-heme iron, the role of vitamin C in iron absorption, and foods that may inhibit iron uptake. Participants were also guided on maintaining a balanced diet, adopting healthy eating habits, and practical nutrition tips for adolescents to support overall health and well-being. The seminar reinforced the essential connection between proper nutrition and women’s health, empowering students to take proactive steps toward anemia prevention.
