Director General (Punjab Food Authority) Leads Punjab’s Drive for Healthier Nutrition and Safer Food

Under the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has taken a significant step toward building a healthier Punjab through the establishment of a state-of-the-art Healthy Diet Resource Center at the PFA Training School.

Under the leadership and vision of Director General PFA, the initiative reflects the Punjab Food Authority’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening nutrition awareness, improving food safety practices, and developing professional capacity in line with international standards.

The Healthy Diet Resource Center will serve as an important platform for training, awareness, and knowledge development in areas including Halal, Food Fortification, HACCP, FSSC, Food Safety, and internationally aligned diet plans. These areas are essential for ensuring safer food systems and encouraging healthier dietary choices across Punjab.

DG [PFA] has strongly endorsed the initiative as part of the Authority’s broader efforts to modernize food safety and nutrition practices. His leadership has placed greater emphasis on capacity building, technical training, innovation, and the adoption of internationally recognized standards to strengthen Punjab’s food safety framework.

The initiative is further supported by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), whose collaboration will help advance nutrition and food safety reforms through technical assistance, knowledge sharing, and capacity development.

Investing in nutrition is an investment in Punjab’s future. Better nutrition can contribute to healthier communities, improved productivity, stronger families, and a more resilient population. By promoting safe food, balanced diets, food fortification, and professional food safety standards, the Punjab Food Authority is working to create lasting improvements in public health.

The establishment of the Healthy Diet Resource Center is therefore more than the launch of a training facility. It represents a forward-looking vision for a healthier, safer, and better-nourished Punjab.

With the leadership of DG [PFA], the Punjab Food Authority continues to move forward with initiatives that combine modern training, scientific knowledge, international best practices, and strong institutional commitment.

Healthy food, informed choices, stronger standards, and visionary leadership are the foundation of a healthier Punjab.
