Punjab Food Authority Toba Tek Singh Conducted Nutrition Screening Camp and Awareness Seminar on Weight Management and Women’s Health

Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Nutrition Screening Camp at a nursing college to promote healthy weight management, women’s health, and food safety awareness on 24-07-2026. A total of 35 participants attended the activity and benefited from nutrition screening and counseling services. The seminar highlighted the role and functions of the Punjab Food Authority, food safety and personal hygiene practices, and the importance of maintaining a healthy weight through balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. Participants were also educated about Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference, and common women’s health issues associated with weight, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), iron-deficiency anemia, thyroid disorders, pregnancy and postpartum weight changes, menopause, and osteoporosis.

The session further emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition, portion control, healthy snacking, adequate hydration, and sufficient intake of iron, calcium, vitamin D, and folic acid. Practical guidance was provided on regular physical activity, stress management, quality sleep, behavioral modification, goal setting, self-monitoring, and emotional eating management to support sustainable weight management and overall well-being. Health promotion activities, free nutrition screening and counseling, a healthy lifestyle booth, and the distribution of awareness flyers were also conducted to encourage participants to adopt healthier dietary and lifestyle practices.
