Punjab Food Authority Gujranwala Conducted Nutrition Awareness Seminar on Adolescent Girls’ Nutrition and Well-being
Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority and Additional Director Operations GRW Division, Nutrition Section of Punjab Food Authority Gujranwala conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar at SM College of Paramedical Sciences, Gujranwala, as part of Adolescent Girls Awareness Month on 27-08-2026. A total of 100 participants attended the session. The seminar was chaired by Tahira Mushtaq, Deputy Director Nutrition, and the session was delivered by Ayesha Amanullah, NTO PFA GRW. Participants were introduced to the Punjab Food Authority and its role in nutrition awareness and were educated about the importance of nutrition during adolescence, macro- and micronutrients, and healthy dietary practices.
The session further highlighted iron-deficiency anemia and its prevention, the importance of folate, calcium, and vitamin D, and the role of breakfast and regular healthy meals. Participants were educated about the harmful effects of junk food, the importance of adequate hydration, and prevention of overweight and obesity through healthy lifestyle choices. Practical guidance was provided on affordable and nutritious food choices, while the role of adolescent girls in promoting healthy nutrition practices within their families and communities was also emphasized. An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted at the end of the seminar to reinforce key messages and encourage healthier dietary and lifestyle practices.
