Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan Conducted Nutrition Screening Camp and Awareness Seminar on Maternal Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle Practices
Upon the directions of the Director General, Punjab Food Authority, Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Nutrition Screening Camp at a local hospital to promote maternal nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices among women. Approximately 280 participants attended the activity, while around 160 patients benefited from nutrition screening, dietary assessment, and individualized nutrition counseling services on 27-07-2026. The seminar highlighted the importance of maternal nutrition during pregnancy and lactation, adequate intake of iron, folic acid, calcium, and vitamin D, prevention of anemia and micronutrient deficiencies, and the role of a balanced diet in supporting maternal and child health. Participants were also educated about exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and healthy nutrition practices for children’s growth and development.
The session further emphasized healthy eating habits, the importance of breakfast, prevention of overweight, obesity, and lifestyle-related diseases, and the role of mothers in promoting healthy nutrition within their families and communities. During the nutrition screening camp, participants received personalized dietary guidance to encourage healthier food choices and improved nutritional status. Nutrition awareness pamphlets were distributed among the audience to reinforce key health messages and support the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices for long-term well-being.
