Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan Conducted Nutrition Awareness Seminar on Adult Female Nutrition, Balanced Diet, and Healthy Eating Habits
Upon the directions of the Competent Authority, Punjab Food Authority, Nutrition Section conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar at Rehan Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Dera Ghazi Khan, to promote awareness about the importance of nutrition among adult females on 12-08-2026. Approximately 280 participants attended the seminar. The session introduced participants to the Punjab Food Authority and highlighted the importance of macro- and micronutrients, with particular emphasis on iron-deficiency anemia and deficiencies of folate, calcium, and vitamin D. Awareness was also provided regarding the growing burden of overnutrition and obesity, particularly in urban settings.
The seminar further focused on the components of a balanced diet, healthy eating habits, the importance of breakfast, and practical ways to prepare affordable and nutritious meals. Participants were educated about the harmful effects of junk, processed, and fast foods, as well as cultural and social barriers to accessing healthy food. The session encouraged participants to promote healthy nutrition within their families and communities. Approximately 50 nutrition awareness pamphlets were distributed among the audience to reinforce key health messages and encourage healthier dietary practices.
