The Nutrition Awareness Section of the Punjab Food Authority in Khanewal conducted a session on ” Girls’ Diet ” at Aspire College in Khanewal. The session aimed to educate approximately 80 students about the best foods suitable for college-going girls, emphasizing their immune system and overall health. Additionally, an introduction to food safety was provided, which involves scientific methods for handling, preparing, and storing food to prevent food-borne illnesses.
A proper nutrition-focused diet is essential for girls for several reasons:
1. Nutrient Requirements:
Girls have specific nutritional needs, especially during their growing years and puberty. A balanced diet ensures they receive essential nutrients like calcium, iron, and vitamins crucial for growth and development.
2. Hormonal Changes: During puberty, hormonal changes occur that can affect metabolism, mood, and overall health. A well-balanced diet aids in managing these changes and supporting hormonal balance.
3. Immune System Support:
A nutritious diet bolsters the immune system, helping girls fight off illnesses and infections more effectively.
4. Energy Levels: College-going girls often face high mental and physical demands. A balanced diet provides the energy needed for their daily activities, studies, and extracurricular pursuits.
5. Long-Term Health: Eating well in younger years establishes healthy eating patterns that can prevent chronic diseases later in life, such as heart disease, obesity, and certain cancers.
Overall, a balanced and nutritious diet is crucial for girls’ physical health, mental well-being, and long-term health outcomes.
