Nutrition Awareness Seminar on Hydration Strategies for Athletes Held at GCUF by Punjab Food Authority

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), Faisalabad, under the guidance of the Director General and supervision of the Additional Director Operations and Deputy Director Operations, successfully conducted a Nutrition Awareness Seminar at the Department of Physical Education, Government College University, Faisalabad.

 

The seminar focused on the vital topic: “Hydration Strategies for Athletes”, aiming to educate students and faculty about the importance of proper hydration, especially during the summer season.

 

With 70 participants in attendance, the session began with an overview of the Punjab Food Authority’s departments, roles, and its mission to ensure public health through safe food practices. The Nutrition Section highlighted the risks of summer dehydration, its causes—including low fluid intake, excessive sweating, and certain medications—and common symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, and dark urine. Participants were provided with practical prevention tips, such as drinking sufficient water, incorporating fruits and vegetables, and avoiding sugary or caffeinated beverages. The seminar concluded with a discussion on adopting a sustainable, healthy diet for long-term well-being. The Chairman of the Department appreciated PFA’s efforts and expressed gratitude for organizing an informative and impactful session.
