Nutrition Awareness Seminar at Hussain College of Nursing, Toba Tek Singh

Under the direction of the Worthy Director General and Deputy Director Operations, the Toba Training School and Nutrition Section of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) successfully organized a comprehensive Nutrition Awareness Seminar at Hussain College of Nursing, Toba Tek Singh.

 

The session focused on Food Safety Training, Nutrition Education, and the Summer Dehydration Campaign, with active participation from 60 attendees. The seminar began with an introduction to PFA’s role and food safety SOPs, followed by an overview of the PFA Nutrition Clinic, Toba. Key topics included the principles of a balanced diet using MyPlate, age-specific nutrition guidelines (16–24 years), and practical meal-planning strategies for duty hours.

 

Special emphasis was given to the harmful effects of cola and sugary drinks, the importance of hydration, and healthy summer diets including sugar-free beverages. Participants were educated on the negative physical and mental impacts of carbonated drinks, ultra-processed foods, and deep-fried items. The role of gut health, nutrient-dense foods, and incorporating healthy fats and proteins into the daily diet was also highlighted. The event concluded with a demonstration on ELMS training and registration, empowering participants with tools to apply nutritional knowledge practically and effectively.
