Under the directions of the competent authority, Punjab Food Authority Dera Ghazi Khan organized a comprehensive Nutrition Awareness Seminar and Assessment Camp at the Doctors Institute of Paramedical Sciences, DG Khan. The event aimed to raise awareness on vital public health topics such as food safety, food poisoning, dehydration, and gastroenteritis prevention. Approximately 400 participants attended the seminar, while around 200 clients received individualized assessments including body weight, BMI, body fat, and visceral fat measurements.
The session covered a wide range of critical topics. Participants were educated on identifying symptoms and causes of dehydration and gastroenteritis, the importance of early intervention through ORS and the BRAT diet, and the role of IV fluids in severe cases. The seminar also addressed food safety hazards, risks of consuming expired food, and promoted the FIFO (First In, First Out) method for food storage. The role of a balanced diet in preventing illness was also highlighted. The session reflected Punjab Food Authority’s commitment to safeguarding public health through proactive education and community engagement.
