The Nutrition Section of the Punjab Food Authority recently organized a Nutrition Awareness & Screening Camp at the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women , themed “Empowering Women Through Balanced Nutrition at the Workplace.” The camp aimed to highlight the importance of a balanced diet in the workplace and its overall impact on women’s health.
Recent studies, such as those conducted by Shaikh et al. (2023), reveal a high prevalence of anemia and vitamin D deficiency among women employees in Punjab, Pakistan. These findings underscored the urgent need for health interventions to address these nutritional deficiencies. By organizing this camp, the Punjab Food Authority aimed to provide essential health services and raise awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition.
During the camp, a variety of health and nutrition services were provided to the participants:
Anthropometric Measurements
Assessment of Dietary History
One-on-One Dietary Counseling
Awareness Literature Distribution
The Punjab Food Authority is dedicated to continuing these efforts and encourages collaboration with various departments to enhance the health and well-being of women in the workplace.
