Nutrition Awareness and Counselling Camp at DHQ Hospital, Hafizabad

The Nutrition Section of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Hafizabad organized a Nutrition Awareness and Counselling Camp at the Paediatrics Ward of DHQ Hospital, Hafizabad. The camp aimed to address the nutritional needs of malnourished children and raise awareness about essential health practices. The agenda included providing nutritional guidelines for malnourished children, promoting exclusive breastfeeding, advising on weaning and complementary diets, and educating on food safety measures during hospital stays. 58 patients were counseled on topics such as underweight and anemic children, gastrointestinal issues, and respiratory infections.

The camp also focused on practical solutions for parents, including bed-to-bed consultations and dietary recommendations tailored to children’s needs. Recommended foods included iron and protein-rich options like red meat, poultry, fish, legumes, and leafy greens, while advising limits on excessive tea, high-fat foods, and sugary drinks. The Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hafizabad appreciated the Punjab Food Authority’s initiative in promoting better nutrition and health practices for young patients, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and education in child health.
