The Nutrition Section recently organized a nutrition awareness and screening camp under the theme “Mindful Eating, Mindful Living” at Sweet Care Home in Lahore. This initiative aimed to educate children and staff about the importance of nutrition, healthy eating habits, and necessary dietary modifications based on individual health statuses.
Throughout the camp, the nutrition staff provided comprehensive menu planning strategies designed to promote the well-being of the children. Several key activities were carried out to support this goal. Anthropometric measurements were conducted to assess weight, height, body mass index (BMI), and body fat analysis, thereby monitoring the children’s growth and health status. Dietary history assessments were performed using the 24-hour Recall Method and Food Frequency Questionnaire to evaluate the children’s eating patterns and nutritional intake. One-on-one counseling sessions were held to address individual dietary needs and concerns. Additionally, awareness literature brochures containing valuable nutrition information were distributed to the children to reinforce the lessons learned during the camp.
This camp was a significant step towards fostering a culture of mindful eating and healthy living among the children and staff at Sweet Care Home.
